The Problem
I started Nodbit SRL as a web development studio, but I had no online presence. No website, no portfolio, no content strategy. Clients came only through personal connections. I needed a professional web presence that would attract European clients through organic search, establish technical credibility, and work perfectly in both Romanian and English.
Research & Discovery
What I did
- Analyzed 15 Romanian web dev studios and their online presence
- Researched what European companies look for when hiring nearshore development
- Audited competitor content strategies (most had zero blog content)
- Identified 7 content pillars aligned with services: SaaS Integration, Web Dev, Workflow Automation, E-Commerce, GDPR, Digital Transformation, Headless CMS
Key insight
Most Romanian dev studios have beautiful websites but zero content. The opportunity was to combine a clean site with a serious content engine — educational articles that demonstrate expertise.
Design Decisions
- 01
Content-first architecture
- Decision
- The blog isn’t an afterthought — it’s the primary acquisition channel, integrated into the homepage.
- Why
- Technical articles demonstrate expertise better than testimonials. A CTO evaluating a dev studio reads the blog, not the services page.
- 02
Mandatory bilingual (RO/EN)
- Decision
- Every page and every article published simultaneously in Romanian and English.
- Why
- Romanian for local SEO and trust. English for European market reach.
- 03
Custom MCP blog server
- Decision
- Built a custom MCP server that connects Claude Desktop directly to MongoDB for content creation.
- Why
- This eliminated the traditional CMS bottleneck. Articles go from draft to published in one conversation, with full markdown support and bilingual enforcement.
- 04
Personal brand over company brand
- Decision
- Position Alexandru Gurau as the expert, not “Nodbit team.”
- Why
- Solo founder — authenticity beats corporate polish. Clients hire people, not logos.
The Solution
- Clean, fast website (PageSpeed score 95+)
- 16+ long-form technical articles published bilingually
- Content calendar with 70 planned articles across 7 pillars
- Social media integration: LinkedIn, X, Facebook posting from Notion
- Custom MCP blog server for direct AI-assisted content creation
- Sales pipeline and outreach system in Notion
Impact & Learnings
Results
- 16 articles published in 4 months, all bilingual
- Blog covering SaaS integration, GDPR, e-commerce, automation — topics that position Nodbit for commercial search queries
- Custom MCP server reduces article publishing time from hours to minutes
- Cold outreach system with 60+ researched prospects
What I learned
- Content marketing works for dev studios, but only if the content is genuinely useful. Fluff articles don’t rank and don’t build trust.
- Bilingual content doubles the effort but more than doubles the reach.
- Automating the content pipeline (MCP server) was a force multiplier.
What I’d Do Differently
- Design in Figma first. Building directly in code gave me speed but made it harder to iterate on layout decisions.
- Start content marketing from day one, not month three.
- Create visual case studies earlier — the articles are strong but need supporting imagery.
